Austen vs. Austen

Jane Austen Collection Friendship ebook

Jane Austen Collection Friendship ebook

Jane Austen is my favorite author. I reread her books at least once a year, as sadly, she only wrote 7 complete novels. This brings me to my small note...

"Lady Susan" is a complete novel, not an unfinished novel, as stated in the eBook description. It is a short, but extremely funny, story.

As her number of completed novels is rather small, I am saddened to say, "The Watsons" and "Sanditon" are the unfinished ones. They are promising tidbits I believe I would have enjoyed...

This eBook appears to have many good reviews for formatting and the price is excellent!

I bought "Jane Austen: the Complete Collection" from Bedford Park Books a few years ago for (I think) $1.99. It is also well-formatted and includes the original illustrations from her originally published works. You may download most of her work for free, but "Sense and Sensibility" was not included in the free eBooks. It alone cost varying rates, starting at $3.00, so I would recommend this one or the one I bought. This one was not available when I first searched for Jane Austen in Kindle books.

  1. I love having alll of Jane Asuten's books at my fingertips. The cost of the collection and the timely delivery were also excellent.

  2. People haven't changed much since the early 1800s, they still gossip. It's just on a larger scale now (about movie stars, sports figures, and reality TV, as well as their friends and neighbors). So if Austen's characters and the class system in England during that era were depicted accurately in her books, people then weren't much different from people today. What drives people to gossip hasn't changed. We think we are different now, but we really aren't.

  6. The first thing that popped out to me with this edition was the beautiful cover of Jane Austen, I knew this would be a quality Kindle book. I had experimented with other editions, but they were just so poor compared to this Doma Publishing edition. I love how this entire collection is perfectly formatted and edited just for the Kindle. Each book has an excellent, working Table of Contents, even the smaller works!. I really can't believe that I am getting all of this content, perfectly formatted for just 99 cents! They not only included her major/minor works and unfinished works like 'Lady Susan' but also her younger scraps like "The History of England".

If you are just a big Jane Austen fan (myself included) or just have to read her works for school, you can't go wrong with this Doma Publishing edition. You can tell they paid meticulous attention to detail. Great job!

  7. This was my first purchase for the Kindle I got for Christmas. I admit I AM a Jane Austen nerd! I read a number of the reviews for Kindle editions before I bought this edition. This version has decent formatting compared to some of the free editions.
I have enjoyed reading some of the lesser-known stories and love that I can take some of my favorite literature ANYWHERE I take my Kindle. It's a miracle of modern technology--and a bit of a security blanket for long airplane trips.
