This book is being used by a group of women artists who are studying a wide range of painting styles. There is an incredible range of artists and their techniques to be seen and studied in this book. The bibligraphies are conicse and very informative. Not only does it wett the appetite of the young and old, but it encourages them to delve into and study the artists who interest them and opens up a new world of art hisotry, thus educating even more. How West Really Lost Secularization  For those Christians wishing to gain significant insight into the current state of American culture, this is a must read. Eberstadt's original and highly plausible view on the secularization of America is a significant addition to the sociological conversation. But it is also, without question, a superbly documented and cogently argued commentary on the demise of the family and Christianity, though without leaving Christians feeling utterly hopeless.
Her primary audience is not your average reader, but she writes in an accessible enough fashion that all are welcome. Written from a sociologists perspective and style, not only does she make the case that "family decline helps to power religious decline," she also writes as a Roman Catholic Christian and bolsters the case for the Church (and society as a whole) to return to a robust value of the traditional family by letting the empirical evidence speak for itself. (I am a conservative Confessional Lutheran, LCMS, and did recognize her Catholic dispositions, but I was not too put out by them as she strived for objectivity for the most part.)
Her basic premise is that faith (Judeo Christianity) and the family form an interwoven "double helix." Where one goes, the other is sure to follow. In other words, it is not just as Christianity goes so goes the family. But the reverse as well--as the family goes, so goes Christianity. "What this book means to impress is that faith and family are the invisible double helix of society--two spirals that when linked to one another can effectively reproduce, but whose strength and momentum depend on one another" (p. 22). Thus, where American society is riddled by broken families, nontraditional families, and anti-family segments, there is apt demonstration of why America is becoming increasingly secular. That is, the family unit is no longer solidified by the Christian message nor, correspondingly, is it propagating the Christian message and morals as the nuclear whole that it once was.
Eberstadt by no means aims to reduce Christianity to the family alone, nor does she aim to undermine the power of "the Word" in creating the Church. In fact, the astute Christian reader will hear her brief but clear deference for the work of the Holy Spirit. And it should be made clear this is by no means any type of theological treatise. Nonetheless, she provides invaluable sociological "empirical" evidence for Christians to draw upon in order to intelligibly speak about the maladies of our culture as it impacts both the Church and the family, very often in parallel manners.
In provocatively clear fashion, she details, among other things, not only how the development of social issues such as divorce, birth control, and homosexuality have impacted the makeup, reconstitution, and absence of the family, but how, wittingly and unwittingly, the Church (among various denominations) has actually changed course and fostered these developments to its own demise.
In the end, Eberstadt provides a hearty diagnostic as well as a simple but profound remedy for what ails the collective family and Church: "If there is a family renaissance, there may be a religious renaissance too. The instructions worked the first time using freeware. (Hint: You need an image size of 720x480, XVID video codec, Frame rate of 23.976 fps, and 128kbps audio bitrate).
This was a great find for the price.
One additional note: I considered lowering my star rating to 4 stars since the advertised resolution is 1440x900 and the frame does not appear to support video larger than 720x480. pcs Table Sign Reserved 12x6cm  As a translator of Shakespeare's plays, I use every edition I can get my hands, so I was thrilled to see that the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) has added a newly edited and glossed collection of all the plays, drawing mostly from the First Folio. As a complete works entry, the RSC version has a lot going for it.
True, the paper is thin and a bit too transparent, but this is also true of the recent The Norton Shakespeare: Based on the Oxford Edition. If that bothers you, choose the The Riverside Shakespeare, 2nd Edition, which has less transparent paper. But recognize that the Riverside is about 500 pages shorter and crams the text into two columns, with character names abbreviated and no room for your notes. It tires my eyes quickly. The RSC is very comfortably laid out with lots of white space and a nice font of school-book clarity. The bold-faced sans-serif font for the characters stands out clearly from the serif font for the lines. The extra stage directions help comprehension, and their location in the right margin rather than in brackets in the text removes clutter.
I also enjoyed immensely the General Introduction by Jonathan Bate. Usually, I find myself daydreaming and wanting to skip ahead through these formalities, but I could not put this one down and wished that it were longer. I particularly enjoyed his efficient rebuttal to the Oxfordian authorship claims. In the blogosphere, Oxfordians have convinced each other that Shakespeare was no more than an illiterate grain dealer, but Bates expertly displays why almost all scholars accept Shakespeare as the author. The blogosphere should take note.
The text itself offers a generous number of glosses. I hold that the more help modern readers get the better. So I did a spot check of how many words or phrases were glossed in a famously difficult passage from King Lear (often left out in performances because of its difficulty). Here is the passage:

Commend a dear thing to you. There is division,
Although as yet the face of it be covered
With mutual cunning, 'twixt Albany and Cornwall;

So for intense study of one play, opt for one of the many paperback versions of individual plays. Jason Amaryllis Placemats Set Large  This book is a great resource for someone starting out on a hearth/kitchen witch path, or for those building a library of Kitchen Witch resources. There is a chapter for each sabbat, with a variety of seasonal recipes for each, as well as corresponding crystals, incense, and a ritual. There are also resources on stocking a magical kitchen, basic recipes for cooking essentials (stock, bread, rice) a convenient herb and spice guide, and also a magical flower guide. The last chapter has information on natural cleaning, lotions and potions. It is only a few pages, so I wish this chapter could have been longer. I would have also liked to see a chapter on moon phases and cooking. Overall, this book is nothing groundbreaking, but it's nice to have all of this information in one place, and the recipes look good, easy, and seasonal (haven't tried any yet). The recipes have both US and Metric units, which is helpful. One of the things i love most about this book are the sweet illustrations on most of the pages. Strathwood Basics Hardwood Chaise Lounge  I bought two of these lounge chairs last summer (2011). Do NOT be scared off by the older reviews...I too think the company must have made some drastic improvements. The stain has not run - in fact, I don't think they arrive stained at all, but a natural deep golden color, oil-rubbed for protection. Regardless, rain has not caused running of any kind. The trays on both chairs still work for me a year later (Michigan - stored in basement Oct-May) - and are a very clever and useful design element. The wheels also work fine and are wonderful for the constant patio movement at my house.
A couple of notes:
...the first chair took me about 40 minutes to assemble alone (female, unskilled carpenter!)as I waded through the directions, the second only half that, as I knew what I was doing. Near completion of the second, I found that one of the leg braces was severely split (the only defect in both). Since they didn't have parts, Amazon cooperatively sent a complete new chair - arriving w/in 2 days. They instruceted me to carefully open the box, exchange the part I needed with the damaged part, seal it and send it back to them all postage paid. Thank you Amazon!!
...standard patio chaise lounge cushions fit just fine
...I highly recommend annual (or more often) teak oil. I just did mine after bringing them out for the second season. The oil brought out the richness of the wood and brought back a deeper warmer color. And it soaked in within a day, so they don't feel oily.

Round Glass Table Thick Polished  If you are looking for a cookbook with lots of everyday recipes, this one isn't going to be your best bet. As an addition to a paleo cookbook collection, its a must have. The recipes are quite a bit different then the usual ones you see and the layout and photography are stunning. I'm giving this 5 stars because it is exactly what it is supposed to be --- a paleo cookbook for entertaining. It provides a number of menus with full recipes for the entire meal for each menu. Keep in mind that this is a cookbook for entertaining and a lot of the recipes are pretty heavy on almond flour and other things that really are probably best left for once in a while paleo treats --- like their amazing looking pizza crust. Modern Masters ME208 16 Reactive Metallic  I bought this table for my 18 month old son. I wanted to get a sturdy water table (especially the legs) and not a sand and water combo table (muddy water). Also I wanted to just get something he can stand and not have to sit in. I know this is a sand table but it works great as a water table too. Holds about 6 gallons of water and the legs are very sturdy. Holds the water weight great and was sooo easy to set up. You just have to snap in the legs and fill with whatever you want. I would like to try other things during winter like corn, beans, rice or pasta. Great sensory play. The older kids like it too. They just grab a seat right next to it instead of standing over. I highly recommend! Also I ordered the Kaplan Sand wheel factory, Freddy the freestyle swimmer windup toy and the aquaplay water pump from Amazon. They are a great addition the the table. JJ Cole Satchel Diaper Stone  Diaper bag is very cute! I got the Aspen Arbor one and the green is pretty true to color on my monitor. The white area is more of a creme color than white but it's still cute. Plenty of pockets on the outside and the inside is very roomy. Baby won't be here until July so I won't know exactly how much fits in it until then but I'd say enough for wallet, keys, some make-up, plenty of diapers, blanket, snacks, bottles, and some other stuff. I'll update later and put a list of everything I managed to fit in it.

I've been using this diaper bag for a little over 6 months now. I still think it is very roomy! It cleans pretty easily too although it hasn't gotten extremely dirty yet. I haven't had any issues with not having enough space for everything either.
And to give you an idea, this is what I carry with me on a typical outting: 5 diapers, a small pack of diaper wipes, a receiving blanket, a box of bags to put dirty diapers in, an extra outfit, 5 Playtex Ventaire bottles, a can of formula, the messenger straps, my wallet and keys and phone, an OBall Rattle, a regular sized rattle, a bib, a box of travel sized Johnson products, and some paperwork on my daughter's doctor's visits. So yes, you can fit tons in it.
I also have people compliment me on the bag a lot and most people have to actually ask me if it's a purse or diaper bag because they can't tell. My friend has a Vera Bradley diaper bag - which I almost bought instead of this one - and I must say that I don't like hers as much as mine. It's smaller and gets really dirty easily. One - Design:
I for one love the necklace aspect these headphones have. The ear buds themselves are magnetic and snap back into their holding place like a breeze. Solid stick but a good bump around will knock them out. My personal only nitpick here is the wires. Not because its "wireless" and therefore no wires should be involved but i wish the wires were on a wheel. That way you can pull the ear buds out and when you put them back the cord would retract back into the item. That way the cord stays safe from damage and it'd leave no room to get snagged on earrings for girls. The part around your neck is made of nice pliable rubber and the two thicker ends are hard plastic with a nice shiny finish to them.
Two - Sound Quality and Buds:
Great. I've had my fair share of earphones having a collection ranging from cheap dime store ear buds to high end skullcandies both overhead and ear buds and these sound wonderful. The buds come with interchangeable (though there's only two sets. The ones already attached and a larger set tucked in the box) ear pieces to fit your ear canal size. The buds themselves are pretty small so if you're not careful you may just forget you're wearing them. I've already done this twice with them. They are also in cased in a shiny plastic and feel very durable. Wouldn't recommend testing this by dropping or slamming them though. I have these paired to my HTC EVO 4G and since they have their own volume control plus the Evo's own volume control I can tune out the world completely if I wanted. No tin-can feedback with these.
Three - Overall:
These things are fantastic for their price. I won't be looking for a new pair for a very long time that much is certain. Made from durable plastic and rubber for around the neck and interchangeable ear pieces this is pretty much a dream come true. Oh and it came ready to go right out of the box. Ive been using them for several hours now and not once has the warning for the battery's power level beeped once and it IMMEDIATELY found my device after i turned on the bluetooth and synced up no hassle. Syncing with computers i am honestly not sure. I've read they work just as well and according to their manual it can have multiple pairings at once if you follow the directions. They also come with a one year warranty and everything's just simple from the get-go. I would definitely recommend these bluetooth headphones to anyone as well as the company for such a prompt delivery. 10/10

Glory Land Rose Stamp Holder  I almost did not buy these dice when I read the reviews saying that they are 1mm smaller than the green and red ones (both of which I own). Villa Elasticized Table Cover WalterDrake  This is a great book, it's definitely as funny as Thank You Notes 1, but this time around I think a lot of the jokes are new as I'm not recognizing as many of them. I haven't read through it completely, but I've already laughed out loud multiple times. The book also comes with a cool sound chip so you can play the music while you read the jokes, but the activation is a little hit and miss. However, Jimmy does usually joke with the pianist at the beginning of the skit, so I won't let it lower my score. Similar to the original Thank You Notes, the book isn't too long, but it is hilarious and for the discounted Amazon price, it was a definite buy. I think the book is perfect for either a Coffee Table book, or as some amazing dump taking reading material.
