The Perfect Legend Of Zelda Companion.

The Legend Zelda Hyrule Historia

The Legend Zelda Hyrule Historia

OVERVIEW: I have never been so excited when purchasing an item from Amazon before. For Hyrule Historia I was so excited that it motivated me to write my first ever product review. Let me just begin with this, I am not an avid reader to say the least. The last book I read was a requirement for high school 9 years ago. This is the first book in a long time that I actually wanted to read. I recieved this product on 1/30/2013 and I ordered it back in Decemember 2012 when Amazon was taking preorders for it.

BUILD: When you open the book, you can tell that the hardcover, binding, and the pages are really well constructed. This is no discount shelf book. The illustrations and the text inside the book are well arranged and they catch the eye really nicely. If you love more pictures than words, then you will be in for a treat. With it's 276 page count, the book is heavier than most textbooks that I have purchased for school. An embossed golden Gate of Time is featured on the front and it is paired well with the Hero of Time's most well known tunic color, green.

FEATURES: The best feature about Hyrule Historia is how much attention to detail is used throughout the games that a typical Zelda fan might have missed. Why certain shields are designed the way they are and why the colors of Link's crimson Loftwing are significant are just a few examples. The book also shares the different design concepts that were introduced in the Legend of Zelda series before the final product was decided upon. This lets the reader see how the game could have been and then allows for a possible alternate view of the already loved game. The sequence of events in Link's adventures are in chronological order so the book follows the timeline(s) that were set up by Nintendo. The Legend of Zelda series already has beautiful artwork within its games, but this book does an excellent job of showing powerful images from each and every game. The different games are well divided throughout the book and allow for quick navigation to any game within the series.

SUMMARY: Shigeru Miyamoto and his team went above and beyond to create this amazing book. I knew I was going to recieve something I was going to read with much detail, but the level of detail and the beautiful artwork is what fascinated me the most about Hyrule Historia. If you are into the Legend of Zelda series, this is a no brainer. With so much to discover within the franchise, the book will have something new for everyone to learn. I'm extremely happy with this purchase and I'm sure I will be reading this unforgettable piece of art over and over again.

  1. I literally cannot stop buying the games. I buy Nintendo systems when a Zelda game comes out almost immediately or at least when I have a chance. I like Mario, but am not in love with the whole franchise. It's not my favorite. Zelda is my favorite, and even though I haven't played much of Metroid (I own Other M and played Super Metroid), I'd say that's tied with Mario. I love Zelda to death. Been playing since Ocarina of Time. Well when I got 2 Wii Points cards and downloaded Virtual Console games for the first time on my Wii, the first games I chose was Zelda. Downloaded almost all the Zelda games (aside from Zelda II). I bought Twilight Princess around the first time I got my Wii. Then I bought Skyward Sword over the summer last year. I own Majora's Mask, A Link to the Past, the original Zelda, as well as two copies of Ocarina of Time (one on Virtual Console, and one cartridge on N64 and I plan on getting OoT 3D when I get a 3DS). I'm obsessed with this series. Not to mention, I bought the Hyrule Historia for no purpose other than to read about Zelda. I don't think it's strange, but most kids my age (I'm 19) are into Call of Duty, Killzone, Resistance, or Halo. While I like all those franchises, I don't really play them all that much. I don't even own any of those games anymore. Is it strange how I'm so obsessed with The Legend of Zelda?

  2. As a Zelda fan, something like the Hyrule Historia in English would do nothing short of complete my existence. Yes, I'm more or less kidding, but I know a lot of Legend of Zelda fans who would do anything to get their hands on an English copy of Hyrule Historia. So why does Nintendo have no plans to sell the book outside of Japan and its language? Are there economical reasons or distribution problems? Or is there another problem entirely?

  3. I wanna get a DVD on sale, it's Godzilla: Final Wars as well as Hyrule Historia, an encyclopedia on the Legend of Zelda series. In the state of Maine taxes are 5 percent of whatever you buy. So say you buy something that's 49.99 the taxes would amount to 2 dollars and 50 cents. Hyrule Historia is $22.74 and Godzilla (preowned and new) is $7.97. I'm terrible with figuring out taxes, please and thanks if you can help.

  4. The Hyrule Historia is an art book based on the Legend of Zelda series. I know it is being released sometime in January 2013, but does anyone have a specific date? That would be great if you do. Thanks.

  5. I am a little slow on playing the LOZ series. I beat Wind Waker a long time ago and just beat OOT. I also beat the first original game. I have most of the other games at my house on stand by. In your opinion what is the best order to play them. I like logical answers like order of release or order in time line but since the story is so mixed up and I have kind of messed up the doing them in order of release I am wondering what other ways may be nice. Go backwards perhaps, I don't know but that is why I ask.

  6. So, my best friend is going to be turning 17 on May 25, and I want to either make her or get her something special that she'll really like. She really likes video games... A lot. She's a huge Zelda fan, Mass Effect fan, and Final Fantasy XIII fan. Don't suggest video games though, because she has them already trust me. I was thinking about baking her a cake that replicates the Triforce..., but it'll be gone in minutes, lol. Sorry if the people who are reading this aren't gamers, you don't have to answer. Anyway, any ideas will help. Thanks world!
