True to the Heart

Riversong Tess Thompson

Riversong Tess Thompson

For a tiny speaker that fits into your pocket, this one packs a hefty punch, and I DO mean it.

It fits with in my pocket, together with my Sansa c250-v1 (read my separate review there), and I think they were 'meant' for each other. Turn on the player, set the speaker on high, press shuffle, play and get back to work. Yeehaw.

Cons:

- 'Proprietary' USB-to-TRS cable. Now if I could find the circuit schematic for this speaker, I might find a workaround. But then, if you lose the cable, tough luck. You're gonna get stuck with the microSD port and load your music there.

- Device hangs when using the microSD slot to play stuff. It hangs once in a while when you load really large files. However, turning off and on (the device) seems to clear this up.

- No visible screws for maintenance access. I fix stuff all the time, so this one's a no-no for me.

However, don't let the cons let you down. This little fellow can play my music at a high volume with minimal distortion for 4-5 hours, so that should even things out.

  1. I had such great fortune to come upon this wonderful novel. The story was simply engaging, creating a world in which I was able to delightfully lose myself. I found the storyline to be quite empowering and hopeful, as it encapsulated a world filled with struggles and redemption. I did not want it to end.

  2. What a great book! The characters are so vivid and real and the storyline grabs you from the beginning. I had a hard time putting it down. It's the kind of book that, when you're finished reading, makes you sad that it's over and makes you want to read everything else that the author has written. I highly recommend this book. It would be a great addition to anyone's beach bag this summer!

  4. This was the first book I read of Tess Thompson's and I couldn't put it down. I was engaged in the story from the first page and after that the book went everywhere with me, sneaking in a few pages at lunch, at the doctor's office, and savoring her words while I soaked in the bathtub. It's as if she writes straight from the heart...actually I've since read many of her blog posts and her latest book, Caramel and Magnolias and I can say that I know that to be true. Ms. Thompson has an honest heart that is evident from her writing.

  5. Riversong is a remarkable debut novel for Tess Hardwick. This warm-hearted, compelling book is an enveloping saga of human resilience. Hardwick's real achievement is her knack for storytelling - she has carved her story with vivid grace and crafted a superbly plotted, and compulsively readable tale that triumphs. In short, Riversong is an inspiration. Tess Hardwick is a delightful new voice in fiction - one that is well worth listening to.

  6. Good book and I am glad I read it. Yes the book has grammatical errors in it but so what, oh a whole the book is very good and I enjoyed reading it. For $3.99 it kept me entertained for several days.

  7. The characters in this story were easy to love, understand and visualize. WE can all relate to the main character and the rough life she has lived. A story of sorrow, love and learning to live after tragedy. I couldn't put it down! It's an easy and truly enjoyable read!
