She talks about coming to the states. She talks about being sponsored ,and not knowing the English language. She talks about it my grandfather being in a POW camp in Poland. However I could have never imagined the horror stories that I have read about in this book. I recently read another book called I will survive by another holocaust survivor. These books teach us a lot about a horrifying time in history. I also know that people today are so dependent on convenience and technology that should something such as this ever happen they'd not know how to survive it.Lloyd Marshallnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5354146858962354174.post-57914435051626194542010-11-10T11:32:40.000-08:002010-11-10T11:32:40.000-08:00I have read many books about the Holocaust over th...I have read many books about the Holocaust over the past years. Each has reached me in ways unexpected. This one was no exception. Rachel came alive to me in the interviews with Robert. I believe this way of telling her story works because Rachel is honest and held nothing back in her simple answers that bring to light to a story that is horrifying and yet captures the heart of a young girl in times that were unbelievably frightening and incomprehensible. There aren't many who could write their hearts as Rachel is able to do in answering questions about something so terrible in her life. Her spirit comes through these pages....I wish I were able to meet her and hear her give a talk. From The Holocaust Scream, I'm certain that I would like her. This is a good read. Don't miss this one.Brent Keithnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5354146858962354174.post-10713745923994593032011-12-14T06:32:40.000-08:002011-12-14T06:32:40.000-08:00This was the best story, so tragic but needed to b...This was the best story, so tragic but needed to be told so people will never forget. Rachael survives the most horrible struggle by the grace of God. The book is laid out in such a way that you have to keep reading it. It is hard to know that the Jews were treated so horribly. Great book for Rachael.Byron Wallnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5354146858962354174.post-69956194534766573482012-11-13T07:32:40.000-08:002012-11-13T07:32:40.000-08:00I just couldn't put it down! I have a deep admiration for her strength and positive outlook on life. I am very grateful to Rachel for having shared her story with us. I wish more survivors would/would've done the same, including my grandmother, survivor of Auschwitz. I never had the chance to meet her, but this book brought me a little closer (as she was Rachel Karpman, Rachel Rosenberg's cousin).
